Acceptable Use Policy

Effective: June 13, 2025  ·  Synchro Labs LLC  ·  support@datacrop.dev

1. Purpose and Scope

This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) governs all use of the DataCrop API, web dashboard, and related services (collectively, the “Service”), operated by Synchro Labs LLC (“Synchro Labs,” “we,” or “us”). This AUP is incorporated by reference into our Terms of Service and applies to all users regardless of subscription tier, including users of the Free plan.

The purpose of this AUP is narrow: it identifies specific categories of conduct that could harm Synchro Labs, third parties, or the integrity of the Service. It is not intended to restrict legitimate use by paying subscribers.

2. Prohibited Conduct

2.1 Reverse Engineering

You may not decompile, disassemble, reverse engineer, or attempt to reconstruct the source code, API schema, data models, aggregation methodology, or internal algorithms underlying the DataCrop platform. This prohibition includes automated analysis designed to derive the structure or methodology of our data pipeline from systematic observation of API outputs. You may, however, build applications that consume API responses in the normal course of permitted use.

2.2 Unauthorized Resale or Sublicensing

You may not resell, relicense, redistribute, or otherwise offer third-party access to DataCrop API outputs as a standalone or embedded data product without prior written authorization from Synchro Labs LLC. “Standalone data product” means a product or service whose primary value is derived from DataCrop data, offered commercially to external customers.

The following uses are permitted within your subscription tier:

  • Internal business tools and dashboards used by your own employees
  • Personal or research projects that are not commercially distributed
  • Incorporating DataCrop data as one input among many into a larger product, provided DataCrop data is not the primary commercial offering

If you are unsure whether your intended use requires authorization, contact us at support@datacrop.dev before proceeding.

2.3 Misrepresentation of Data Origin

You may not represent DataCrop data outputs as your own independently sourced or proprietary data in contexts that are materially misleading to end recipients. Where applicable law or industry standards require attribution to underlying government sources (USDA NASS, USDA AMS, FRED), you must provide that attribution. You may, however, white-label or brand DataCrop-sourced data in internal tools without attribution, provided you do not make affirmative false claims about the data’s origin to external parties.

3. Rate Limits and Fair Use

Each subscription tier includes defined API request rate limits. You may not attempt to circumvent, bypass, or substantially exceed these limits through any means, including distributing requests across multiple accounts, rotating API keys, using shared credentials, or employing automated workarounds. Rate limits exist to ensure fair availability of the Service across all users.

4. API Key Security

You are responsible for keeping your API key confidential. You must not share your API key publicly (including in public repositories), embed it in client-side code accessible to end users, or distribute it in any manner that allows third parties to make API calls on your behalf without your knowledge. If you believe your key has been compromised, regenerate it immediately through your account settings and notify us at support@datacrop.dev.

5. Government Data Attribution

The underlying data available through DataCrop is derived from public-domain government databases (USDA NASS, USDA AMS, FRED). These datasets are in the public domain and free of copyright restrictions. When redistributing or publishing DataCrop data in reports, publications, or public-facing products, you are encouraged to acknowledge the original source agencies in accordance with standard academic and professional practice.

6. Enforcement

Synchro Labs reserves the right to investigate potential violations of this AUP. Upon confirmation of a violation, we may, in our sole discretion:

  • Issue a warning and require remediation
  • Temporarily suspend your API key or account
  • Permanently terminate your account without refund
  • Pursue legal remedies where applicable

We will make the final determination of whether a violation has occurred. Where circumstances allow, we will attempt to notify you and provide an opportunity to respond before taking action.

7. Questions and Permitted Use Inquiries

If you have questions about whether a particular use case is permitted, or wish to request written authorization for commercial redistribution, contact us at support@datacrop.dev before proceeding.
